Learning about the power of good nutrition became clear to me when I went off to college. I grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania. Most of the food I ate was home grown, fresh and nutritious. In fact, I was really never exposed to McDonald’s until I went off to school.
When I went off to college my eating habits totally changed. My basic diet became the cheapest foods possible which lacked nutrients and were laced with chemicals. Nutrition was certainly not at the top of my list.
It did not take any time at all before my body started to rebel. Gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, breast tenderness, moodiness, fatigue and upset stomach all were feelings I had on a regular basis. It didn’t take too long before I realized that to maintain my health – not to mention the quality of my life - I no longer could continue to eat chemical based foods and expect not to have any short or long term side effects.
